VOLTAGE DROP TESTER – MODEL VDT
Designed and manufactured for testing DC motor/Generator armature of faults like interturn shorts , Dry soldering and open circuit.
Test is carried by passing High current through two carbon brushes kept at distance equal to coil pitch .Test current can be varied upto 70 Amp. Through autostat and can be seen on Analog ammeter fitted.
Voltage drop can be checked on Analog Milli voltmeter whose lead are to be touched on segment side by side . If any interturn short/open coil is there reading will vary. In case of dry solder or loose joint , joint portion will get heated up

Surge Comparison testing is the most comprehensive quality control method for electrical winding . It is extremely effective as a diagnostic tool to evaluate and detect any winding faults that may exist. The tester can detect and identify turn – to – turn , coil – to – coil and phase – to – phase short. Reversed coils connections opens and grounds. In addition to surge test a DC high potential test can also be made. Both the tests are non destructive.
